The head of the Republic of Kosovo's Parliament, Kadri Veselin, at the Conference organised by the Ministry of Justice for functional review of the rule of law sector, has reiterated his stance on fighting non-corruption and other negative phenomena, for which he has invited responsible institutions to work harder.

Speaking to those present, Wessel said that through corruption Kosovo's citizens, the state and its prospects are being damaged.

“Corruption can and should be stopped on its own, each without mercy. We need to narrow down the space for corrupt people, since politicians, from whom we have enough and who talk most. But sometimes judges and prosecutors should also be sanctioned in order to carry out their work, because the judiciary must be impartial”, Chief Parliamentary Veselin stressed.

He demonstrated confidence that with reforms that took place in the judicial system and with current capacities, it is possible and, as he said, there are heroes who will come out and freeze the indictment for high-profile political people as well.

The head of the Assembly said people are leaving Kosovo, first of all, because they have lost faith and that trust must be restored.

The vision for forming the Commercial Court, which is proposed by Wessel, was also presented and will enable businesses to resolve their disputes more quickly.

Speaking of investments and businesses in Kosovo, Wessel said delays in resolving conflicts have caused major problems in their functioning, but also in the arrival of new investors from abroad.

He said Kosovo has extraordinary human and natural resources for development and to keep its people in it. This, according to him, is based on a real economic strategy that is based on the most advanced practices of entrepreneurship and free private economy.

“This is why we have put forward the process of functional revision of the rule of law sector and congratulate the minister on concrete steps in this direction. I believe that at a record time they will pass the law in the Assembly and create the infrastructure necessary for the rapid functioning of commercial courts”, Wessel stressed.

It laid out the need for harmonisation of laws so that there will be no complications and therefore failure to implement them in practice.
