This bank announced that the defunct Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs will start his new job Tuesday. His first task in the post will be to organise spring meetings between the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Malpas previously served as a financial chief and adviser during President Trump's campaign in 2016. He was the only candidate to assume the post of World Bank president.
The World Bank's former chairman, Jim Young Kim, who resigned in January to join a private infrastructure fund, had faced two counterCandids in 2012. One of them was from Nigeria and the other from Colombia.
The World Bank's newly elected president has pledged that this institution will remain committed to lowering the poverty rate in the most underdeveloped countries to combat climate change and to meet the goals set by increasing $13 billion last year, writes “Reuters”.
