Believe it or not, there are many people who are obsessed with pimples and not only (no exception to black dots, white dots, cysts, and so on) toys.
Sandra Lee, a cosmetic and surgical dermatologist in Upland, received great attention on social networking as soon as she started posting videos of patients. Right now, her account on the Instagram @drpimplepopper There are more than 3.2 million followers. It's very interesting because people love these videos,” Lee told The Washington Post.
So much attention was made that its videos began to be broadcast on TLC, where only premiered about 2.4 million viewers.
The reason?
According to Heather Berlin, a neuro-scientist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, “such behavior is normal”. “People want to remove bumps, rashes, black dots, and so on from their skins, because along the evolution process, people have practiced behavior such as a way to cleanse themselves of parasites and not just”.
For some people, Berlin says, such videos stimulate nucleus accumbens, a part of the brain that when activated gets dopamine, which gives them satisfaction. This is not the case among others because other areas are activated, followed by feelings of disgust.
