Usually, caregivers in the hospital do just that - they care for them. But a small one was a little different, for no one cared for her to come visit her for months, and her relationship with the nurse changed dramatically.
She cared for him, raised him, and eventually became the baby's mother. Nurse Liz Smith had tried desperately to have her own child, but until 2016 she failed. Even her attempt to fertilization in vitro proved failed and it was one of her worst days. However, things began to take a sudden turn when a child of two parents, who had lost the right to raise their child, came to the hospital.
The newborn girl weighed just four pounds [1 kg] and needed special care. But for months nobody came to visit the baby.
When I started feeding her my goal was to unite her biological parents. I never thought her mother would be me. I thought he deserved every piece of love I gave him”.
On October 18, 2018, Smith officially became Giselle's mother, now 2. Her health has improved greatly since birth, and although she is still feeding on the tube, she is also eating real food like others.
“Giselle is doing great, even though in slow steps, she's in the direction of”- Nurse Smith said.
Smith says she has never felt happier and stronger.
