When her country takes over the European Union's rotating presidency after two months, Helsinki could push ahead with visa liberalisation for Kosovo.

But Finnish Ambassador to Pristina Pia Styernvall says that despite the chairmanship, the state from the northeast of Europe will not be the key player in the process.

We will see if other EU members want to do something about visa liberalisation. If we see their wish, we'll move it forward. It is a disaster for you that no visa removal is happening, she told Klan Kosovo.

She says the visa decision depends on Pristina itself.

“Hopefully a compromise but good and sustainable agreement. I hope the situation will settle down. Kosovo and Serbia are losing much energy by arguing. This is particularly influential in Kosovo, where many people are leaving, although the economy has marked growth of”, Sterernvall said.

Helsinik's first in Pristina also spoke of statements by Serbian politicians in Kosovo concerning the war. Some of them once again denied their crimes by Milosevic's power as happened to the Recak massacre.

Finland has been present in Kosovo right after the war. This state in 1999 opened the liaison office in Pristina, which on 1 February 2009 became the Embassy.
