Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan said today, a day after the opposition candidate took up the post of Istanbul mayor, that his Justice Party will fight until the High Election Commission makes a final decision for the March 31st local elections.
After 17 days of complaints and re-evaluation, Ekrem Imamoglu took office Wednesday, despite Erdogan's request that elections for Istanbul mayor be cancelled and repeated, Reuters broadcast.
Speaking to union members, Erdogan said Turkey should effectively use the next four years until regular elections to solve economic and security problems.
