Toymaker Fisher-Prince has pulled back nearly five million child swings after reports linked the product to the death of dozens of babies.
This announcement came from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Friday. The commission said at least 30 babies had died in their sleep since the model was presented in 2009.
Fischer-Prece had warned consumers to stop using swings as babies could roll.
In a statement, the owner of the Fisher-Prince Mattel Prize confirmed the voluntary withdrawal.
“Taking into account the reported incidents in which the product was used contrary to warning and security guidelines, we have decided in partnership with the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), that voluntary withdrawal is the best course of action” said Fischer-Prise.
CPSC has estimated about 4.7 million products to be returned.
It has called on consumers to stop using the swayers immediately and contact Fischer-Price for a reimbursement.
