The ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo, Philip Costnet, during a discussion at “FOL Open FOL”, has questioned that it can be manipulated even in the case of the benefit of victims of sexual violence during the war, as it did in the case of veterans, who he says the number has grown dramatically and suspiciously.
“A law that is the right of martyrs, disabled, KLA members has given the victims status of sexual violence during the war. Survivors have begun calling 20 years after the war. But this amendment has been added to a status that denies granting the status of those affected after June 1999. Have MPs heard those most affected by this law, and will I give the Parliament the same benefits as veterans that their number has grown dramatically and suspiciously”, Costnett said.
He also talked about party employment.
There are many reports in Kosovo where people get government positions, not why they have qualifications, but are familyly connected. A recent survey revealed that 20 percent of respondents feel that credit is a key to job creation. At the local government ministry, servants are committed to putting people on their own. These officials are brave. Transparency and accountability during employment are the reason donors have increased their support for it. Such respect for the law is causing citizens to win directly and not only some politicians in Pristina”, he said. /EO
