BERZH President Sir Suma Chakrabarti will visit Kosovo on April 18th during a tour of the Western Balkan region in preparation for the Bank's annual 2019 meeting, to be held in Sarajevo in May.
This is the president's first visit since 2016.
During his day-long stay, President Chakrabarti will meet with government officials, including Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Finance Minister Bedri Hamza and Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka.
At his meetings, the head of the EURZH will reconsider the Bank's pledge to the state and the entire Western Balkan region. It will also reaffirm the Bank's position as a strategic partner in Kosovo and leading institutional investor with over 363 million euros invested so far in 63 projects. The Bank's focus in Kosovo is on supporting the competitive development of the private sector, improving energy security, sustainability and supporting planning, as well as regional integration.
BELZH added its activities to the Western Balkans last year and invested more than 1.1 billion euros through 67 projects. Throughout the region, conservation or slight growth of this level is targeted. In Kosovo, The EBRD is aimed at a significant increase in investments from 52 million euros in 1982 to 100 million euros over the coming period.
The city of Pristina joined the BERZH urban greening programme BERZH Green Citiesão, late 2018. This will help the city identify priority actions and investments that will be implemented in improving its infrastructure, Kosovo reports.
