Australian Branton Tarant, who shot people at a mosque in Christchurch, stood by the minister in Austria from November 28th to December 2nd last year.
During that time, he rented a car with which he traveled 2,000 miles [2,000 km] to visit several towns.
He viewed Austria as one of the countries in which it could initiate resistance against migration, Tarant writes in his manifesto.
Kickl noted that Tarant also visited North Korea in 2014, and three Austrians were in the tour group.
A continuous investigation is under way for the background of that journey, as well as” contacts, the minister explained.
He noted Austria currently does not face specific terrorism threat.
