Ali Mema comes from the Mema dynasty, a family that has produced several footballers, from the brothers of Ali, Osman and Haxhi, to follow with grandson Sulejman Mema and his son, Ardian Mema, who is currently coach of Tirana.
Ali Mema will remain in the memory of Albanian athletes as one of the finest midfielders in Tirana's 60-70s, technical and very virtuoso, being named as one of his generation's greatest. Fine ones have been his presentations with the national team, where he made an extraordinary contribution. For many years Mema dedicated herself to the training being on the side of former Tirana coach Enver Shehu, broadcasts the TCH.
Dear friends of the great football family, I have bitterly learned the sad news of Ali Mema's life, a brilliant former midfielder of Tirana and the national team, football leaders and a good friend. At this moment the grief for Albanian football I want to express my sincere condolences to family and relatives. He was an icon of Albanian football and one of the greatest family symbol football in Tirana, and as such will always be remembered by the football community”, FSHF President Armand Duka has declared, just learned the painful news.
