Official data from the Bank of Albania shows that even during the past year tourism has been one of the most dynamic sectors of the Albanian economy, continuing to expand rapidly.
According to data released in the payment balance compared to 2017, the revenues the economy received from tourism increased by nearly 9%, from 1.7 billion euros to 1.85 billion euros, tch broadcasts.
According to the Bank of Albania, only in the third quarter, which represents the peak of the tourist season, foreigners spent over 683m euros in Albania for tourism or various trips, or 16% more than a year ago
But the growth of tourism is not only in the inflow of the kahun. Albanians too have spent more on travel abroad. According to the Bank of Albania, for the entire last year Albanians spent 1.4 billion euros on travel abroad, or 13% more than a year ago.
This causes the net contribution of the tourism sector to the economy over the past year -- that is, the difference between the income that the economy benefited from tourists and the expenditures the Albanians made in other countries -- to result in about 430m euros, which still remains one of the most important sources of currency for the economy.
