In this regard, Fatmir Hajoli, political adviser to Foreign Affairs Minister Behgjet Pacolli, has told Telegrafi that the number of diplomatic missions will increase within two years.
“functioning of expanding the network of diplomatic representation in new geography, establishing new relations, as well as deepening co-operation with various countries, new diplomatic missions are taking place. This is a work in progress, and I will continue with the possibility of opening more missions. You've mentioned four of them, since at a time interval of 1 to 2 years, the number of new missions can grow to 10 or even more”, Hajoll said.
He has stressed that all of this depends directly on the interests and strategic priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Kosovo. Hajolli has added that there are positive signals for co-operation, even from countries that have not recognised Kosovo
We find that now is the right time to open a new chapter of global representation, characterized by the use of diplomatic space created after 11 years of international citizenship affirmation. There are positive signals and interest in cooperation even from countries that have not recognized us, and that is very encouraging. This entire process will be forwarded with increased diplomatic and consular human capacities, within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in co-ordination with other local institutions”, Hajoli stressed.
Asked how the procedures for selecting ambassadors will go to this upcoming embassy, Hajoll has not specifically indicated how their selection will take place, only saying this is an excellent case for diplomats.
However, this is also an excellent case for career diplomats, especially for those who look forward to capitalising on knowledge and experience gained over the years. The maximum exploitation of the foreign service of the Republic of Kosovo, which is already fully consolidated and inherits a promising experience, is also aimed. These goals are also envisioned in the Foreign Policy Strategy, which we will have formed very quickly this year”, Hajoll said.
Through these new diplomatic missions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Republic of Kosovo aims to cover several other states through non-resident claims, with the aim of expanding co-operation and establishing partnerships in common interests.
Otherwise, today during a meeting between Kosovo Foreign Affairs Minister Behgjet Pacolli and Japan's Foreign Minister, Toko Abe, it was said that this state will open its embassy in Kosovo.
