A suicide bombing near the largest American military base in Afghanistan, injured at least five people and damaged a hospital that was being built near the air base, Bagram, Afghan officials have said.
The attack, which no one has yet claimed responsibility, comes as the United States has resumed talks with the Taliban to end the 18-year war, three months after US President Donald Trump suspended them.
Mission support NATO in this country has said that as a consequence of the attack, there are no victims and that the area is being preserved after the incident.
“The enemy forces have carried out the attack in the Bagram air zone this morning, targeting a medical building that was being built to help Afghans living near base”, is said in NATO's statement.
Bagram's military base is located about 30 miles [50 km] north of Kabul.
Wednesday's attack comes at a time when the United States aims to reach agreements with Taliban militants, who control about half of Afghanistan's territory.
The intervention of the US and other NATO allies has brought the Taliban down from power in Afghanistan in 2001. /rel
