Prizren prosecution this year has handled 227 cases of domestic violence

At the Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren, the third closing meeting for this year has been held of the co-ordination group with those responsible for handling cases and criminal acts of domestic violence within the jurisdiction of this prosecutor, acting according to standard action procedures.
At this meeting called and organised by the prosecutor and co-ordinator for domestic violence cases Mrs. Mehreme Hoxha, under the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Prizren, attended by Deputy State Prosecutor Mrs. Sevdije Morina once co-ordinator for domestic violence cases under the State Prosecutor, representatives from the American Embassy, representatives from Kosovo Police for the Prizren region, defenders of the victims, representatives from the Office for Free Juridical Assistance, representatives from the Centre for Social Work, Housing, and officials from the Sprovatory Service.
All participants in the meeting praised the co-operation that exists among competent institutions for effective and rapid treatment of these cases, and it was suggested that cases of domestic violence are the most difficult cases for treatment, as in many cases the vulnerable victims are presented.
It was also stressed that despite challenges and difficulties, all domestic violence - related subjects have been accomplished prioritized. Thus, at the Constitutional Prosecution in Prizren, a total of 227 subjects described as domestic violence were conducted this year, while currently there are 15 subjects at work.
As a result of the discussions, with the aim of dealing with these cases as effectively as possible, at the end of the meeting by participants the recommendations were issued to improve criminal charges in the future regarding cases of domestic violence, and in particular to become the risk assessment of the victims, it was then recommended that representatives from the Centre for Social Affairs each time be present when dealing with sensitive victims, and were asked to become empowering housing through financial support from the relevant state institutions.
