CEC does not show spending report for elections

For the recent parliamentary elections, which the results were certified on November 27th, the Finance Ministry had aided the CEC for about 6m euros.

However, officials of this institution that organised the elections are not showing how many means they have spent on the entire electoral process, which has had a longer duration compared to all other electoral parties that have been held so far in the country.

But they agree that the long term of elections has affected the overall cost increase

Recognitions of this field claim that the rise in continued spending by the CEC should be followed accountable to the Secretariat of the CEC and the National Audition Office.

spokesman The CEC, Valmir Elezi, tells Kosovo Press that the Central Election Commission is in the final phase of completing the payments related to the expenses of the 6 October election process.

Teka adds that for these elections the planned means have been in about 6m euros, but how much of this is spent, this cannot be said for the time being, as the CEC is in higher preparation of the spending report.

spokesperson Elez also says the Law for General Elections envisions that the Central Election Commission will publish a full report on electoral spending and spending, while the time when this publication is made, according to the law, is within 60 days of its proclamation of results.

Former CEC chairman Mazum Baraliu says that the process as long as it lasts in the sense of procrastinating the electoral process, spending is greater because all those people who have engaged two months have also increased financial costs.

The university professor adds that electoral processes are increasingly costing the country more than they once cost. According to him, the price of this electoral process as it was on the 6th is quite high.

While, for calls by VV officials for the possibility of moving the country into new elections, incumbent Finance Minister Lulzim Rafuna's adviser has removed any dilemmas to ensure financial means for a new election process.

CEC officials claim that there are still persons who have worked for the October 6th elections who have not received the means they belong to for various reasons, which have to do with mistakes in the bank account number, inactive accounts or even non-personal accounts.

In such cases, these people have to communicate with the Municipal Election Commission in the municipality where it has been committed during these elections to present improvements that must be made in order to redo it for payment.

The number of members of polling councils and other staff engaged in the 6 October elections is about 22 thousand and 500. Only 500 cases of this number have occurred when the tools were returned for any of the high reasons. Many of them have been sent back for payment.

Also, lists of persons engaged as day staff at the Counting and Results Centre, as well as lists with persons engaged in submitting results from the polling Centres, will be forwarded for payment to the Ministry of Finance during the coming week.
