In a press release, the Office of the Mighty Minister for the Education of Earthquake Effects, led by Minister Bledi Cuci, released information on the work of public institutions to address the effects of the November 26th earthquake.

Today is the fifth day after the November 26th severe earthquake, which brought tragedy of loss of life to 51 of our fellow citizens, and caused major injuries and damage in many of the municipalities in Durres, Kruje, Shijak, Kurbin, Tirana, Kamez, Vora, Lezha.

Until today:

The Emergency Staffs have been established and operated in every affected municipality;

The joint search-saving operations from which 45 live persons have been removed;

They have received medical assistance in hospitals around 900 citizens, of whom 731 alone in the Trauma Hospitals in Tirana and Durres, and three of them have been sent to specialised treatment abroad.

They're kept on constant monitoring of injured persons laid down in hospitals;

All families who had lost loved ones and were supported, among other things, with all the expenses for the mortories whose organisation is covered by local authorities (joined and Prefectura);

-They have been accommodated at hotel facilities 2,843 in Durres, Tirana, Shengj, Shkodra, Vlora, Pogradec, Gjirokastra and Kukes.

Today it was adopted at the Government's meeting for mechanization, which allows for coverage of the costs for accommodation and food near hotel facilities;

At the same time, tents have been distributed in rural areas, including Vora administrative units, Bubq, Ishme, Manez;

The evacuation of four (4) gyms in Durres is under way, following verifications made with Administrative Units. Part of these residents filtered out by local units are heading towards hotel facilities.

Today in Durres the total number of accommodated at hotel facilities is 1064;

) In Tirana, five Social Centres have offered and continue to provide shelter and food to homeless residents because of the earthquake.

Beds, blankets, pillows, food, clothing, medicine, toilet products, all of the accommodated citizens at the hotel, and those who have chosen to stay in tents near their homes, mainly in rural areas. This has become possible and continues to be possible, thanks to the extraordinary contribution of many fellow citizens, businesses, non-profit domestic and foreign organisations, brothers and sisters from Kosovo, northern Macedonia, Montenegro and the diaspora.

In hotels where citizens have been accommodated, whose dwellings have been damaged by the quake, medical and psycho-social assistance have begun to be offered without interruptions and are preparing children's lists and plans are being made to transport them to schools and parents to their jobs, starting on Monday.

The House View Experts Group, consisting of 70 domestic and foreign engineers, is being established and operated, supported by the Joint Civil Emergency Mechanism of the European Union and the United Nations. This group will assess the state of all residences in municipalities affected by the earthquake based on a methodology prepared in co-operation with the Civil Emergencys of the European Union and the United Nations. Experts' groups are also assisted by the State Police and Administrators of the affected municipalities. Rating groups have started working on the ground since November 29th.

A total of eleven (11) of teams have been engaged in the Durres municipality, and the technical assessment of buildings has been made in over 250 items, including public schools. There has also been work on the technical assessment of private school buildings. Only 4 public schools have been designated by experts as inappropriate for learning.

- The collapse of buildings destroyed by the earthquake in Durres City Hall started. Determining these residences is made by municipal council decision, on the basis of the official technical assessment of experts.

- Continue strengthened inspections at all food aid collection stations in Durres, Tirana and Lezha County.

Also in every center, hotel, or restaurant where earthquake - affected food is served. Inspectors coming from Draku Fier and Elbasan are in favour of providing constant monitoring at these gatherings. The food security situation is under control.
