Despite that, however, Xhemail Halili from Presevo has not stepped on his native land for nearly a year.
Initially, he did not know he did not have to cross the border.
That's what the Serbian police told him.
Last “I tried to go home, Serbia's police took me back to the border. During my attempt to go home, a policeman told me that on a red list, and when I asked for reasons, he didn't give me”
The cause of this is allegedly being done by Halil Xhemaili in Kosovo.
He works as director of the Directorate for Prosecutorship in the Kosovo Assembly.
“After some informal information, top and principal positions, it is not allowed to appear that way”
Xhemaili says there has been no obstacle to visiting Presevo so far.
But he has not attempted to visit his homeland for months, fearing an arrest.
Meanwhile, such bans are not limited to those working in Kosovo's state administration.
Naim Ramiz, has not been visiting his home in Bujanoc for 15 years.
He had joined the Liberation Army for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja in 2001.
And he tells of why Bujanoc is not allowed to visit.
The war period and our activity during the war has led to arrest and build a fabricated indictment that has sentenced us to 57 years and 6 months then, the group of 11 persons”
Ramisi shows what the former UCPM members face if they try to cross the border with Serbia.
If today we try to visit our homeland, I know for sure we're going to end up in the Nis prison”
It is not only Ramisi who had such experience with Serbian authorities.
Tens of former soldiers have been arrested since the post-war war, despite trying to cross the border regularly.
If something has been undertaken that those whom Serbia has on the red list will be allowed to cross to the border points with the neighbouring state, T7 has asked the prime minister's office as well.
From this office they have said that competent in this matter is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
And despite television attempts and expectations, the latter have chosen to remain silent.
