The Argentinian icon took over the Superleague team in September of this year in an agreement supposed to run by the end of the season.
But Gimnasia has won only three matches since the arrival of former Napoli, Barcelona and Boca Juniors, and there are three positions higher than the last post after 13 matches, broadcast news.net.
Despite their 3-0 victory over Aldosiv in their last match, pressure was growing against Maradona amid his team's terrible form, with club president Gabriel Pellegrino also taking risks.
Reports suggested the coach could continue his course, but he insisted he would remain in charge if Pellegrino stayed in this club.
Pellegrino, however, has decided not to run for re-election as Gimnasia president, and he confirmed on Tuesday that 59-year-old and his training team have left the club.
