Six cloned dogs add to Beijing police ranks

On Wednesday, the Beijing police force welcomed into its ranks six cloned dogs -- an attempt by authorities -- to pass the genes of former police dogs to a new generation of K-9 officers. At a ceremony at [Cunal Public Security Bureau Police Dogs Base]
At a ceremony at the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau Police Dogs Baza, the trainers laid the signs of police, collar and dog uniforms to mark their entry into the task of law enforcement, according to the state newspaper China Daily.
Authorities began producing cloned dogs, using skin samples from two animals. The cubs were born in August, FoxNews reports.
Four of them came from the same generation, and their DNA is more than 99 % identical to donor dogs, officials said on paper.
Ma Jinle, a police officer who trains dogs, told the newspaper that the effort has been a priority for authorities. He said dogs show the same capabilities as non-deplified police dogs, in memory, courage and aggression.
