Agim Bytyqi also talked about the first match Kosovo had held in 1992. He has said it took place in Tetovo against Macedonia with Ajet Shoshel as Kosovo's first coach.
For Total Sports, Bytyqi has shown his emotions at the time.
“in 1992, Kosovo has played its first match in Tetovo against Northern Macedonia. The fight was arranged by the Church. Kosovo's first coach has been Ajet Shosholli. We invited him to that fight. We had very quality players back then. The stadium has been full of viewers. It was a very exciting fight. At the stadium, viewers have sung the song, Oy Kosovo my mother. I can't describe that moment. Me and the late Bedri Hamza were in the stadium. At that moment my tears have gone out, it was a moment I couldn't describe today. Kosovo has played red fans. We traveled by bus and private cars. When we got back, we got a bus with signs of Tetovo. There was a cop on the border asking who you are. I told him we are Kosovo football players. He said you are the footballers of the Republic of Kosovo. He then asked if it's the Republic of Kosovo. I told him we are Kosovo football veterans, but he told me not to worry, say you are the Republic of Kosovo. Then he came out. After this match, we played Albania. We played in Dinamo Stadium. It has been a great success that Kosovo went out of limits”, Bytyqi has said.
Bytyqi has also told of a meeting they had had with former President Ibrahim Rugova, who he said were all excited about.
Bytyqi remembers the time FFK was formed
Agim Bytycin, the first president of the Kosovo Football Federation, has remembered the first 1991 Parliament, where he received the delegates' votes to run Kosovo football at the most difficult time.
In an interview for Total Sports at KTV, he has shown how they started the championship and how everything was organized even though they had nothing.
We have had several meetings, attended by all clubs from around Kosovo. We held meetings in Pristina's tea shop, since we didn't have offices at first. It is expected that they will expel us from their evils, but we did not wait, and we departed ourselves, forming our own league. After a few meetings, we have held the first assembly of delegates from all clubs. In that assembly, I was voted by advertising as chairman. There were so many delegates to that assembly that there was no chair. At first it is called the Kosovo Football League. They were in charge of each city. We haven't had anything, we started from zero. We've had great support from the people, with food requisite, and with a lot of”, he said first.
Bytyqi has recalled how several times the matches by Serbian police were interrupted.
On September 17, 1991, we started the championship. We played more in the villages, left land and made them like football fields. We did everything by law, by regulations, by all means, and we started the championship. At first, Serbs have gotten furious and stopped us from fighting several times. They came with a car and police. I remember one match, Besa and Suhareka Freedom, all the players have backed up against the wall and we didn't know what would happen to them. There have been many threats. Many times we have been invited and interrogated at police stations. Many have been beaten by Serbian police, it has been a very difficult situation. We've had our lives in danger, but we haven't stopped”, he remembered.
Bytyqi has even talked about Kosovo's rejection in U FIFA EFA. He has said they have always received negative answers because Kosovo was not a state. Kosovo had written for the first time U n FIFA EFA in 1992.
We've sent the representative to UEFA and FIFA every year to tell you what we're doing. We have sent the status, regulation, we have informed them of the champion and winner of the Cup. But we have always received negative answers that we cannot be accepted because we are not a state. We first wrote to them in 1992, but we haven't been able to meet. We tried to go to Switzerland and when they came to Albania, but they didn't give us our visas. We knew we couldn't be accepted, but we tried and wanted to be in UEFA's eye, inform them we were playing because there were discriminations even at that time. At first we were the Kosovo Football League. After six months we have declared the Federation of the Republic of Kosovo. With the latter we've harassed many Serbs”, he showed.
Bytyqi has said they had contacts with the Federation of Albania and through them have tried to contact UEFA. He said they had help from Tetovo.
He has said that during the time he led Kosovo football, he was very afraid of footballers who were called into the Army.
