A senior White House official told the Voice of America that President Trump appointed Ambassador Green as his special envoy because of his great confidence in him.

The appointment of an official of this high level and capable representative reflects President Trump's commitment to reaching a long-term peace agreement between Serbia and Kosovo.

While Kosovo is expected to choose a new government soon, Grenelli's appointment underscores the importance of both sides taking steps towards the resumption of dialogue, the US official questioned by the Voice of America about Grenelli's appointment said.
