Hungary will implement forces “at its southern border with Serbia to defend the border with the European Union if Turkey threatens to open the door to refugees in Europe, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said today.
Orban said 90,000 people are currently trying to reach the EU through the Balkan “road, adding that their number will soon increase to 100,000.
“If Turkey issues hundreds of thousands of additional migrants, we will have to use force to protect the Hungarian border and the Serb-Hungarian border,” he said.
Orban warned that the current situation in Syria may soon have consequences for Hungary, whose borders are also EU borders.
