In the municipality, which is not even ten miles from Kosovo's capital, citizens are now facing severe wind and smoke coming from KEK thermal power plants. The polluted air, which is happening as a mixture of smoke, dust, and ash, also has a severe wind that is bothering citizens.
Musa Aslan, who is resident of this municipality, is saying the day-day has become difficult living in this country. In his view, a more pronounced smoke has been observed in recent days.
Aslan: I don't know how we're living in this municipality.
I don't know how we're living in the Obilic municipality. They've given promises, nothing from the government, nothing from anyone. The government is guilty, but who else, the mayor of the municipality, the Government, and KEK's director, who is competent to stick air-clearing filters, they never climb and smoke out without filtering, and we absorb it altogether, then disease”, he says.
Frustrated for the neglect of institutions, Mehmet Gashi, as did Obilics resident, turns out to be.
Gashi: Leadership Has Sinned
There's smoke, and there's ours, and the whole leadership's got the blame, and all the headship is the blame... There's more, there's more, there's all, but the whole leader's got”, Gashi says.
For Kosova Prees, Muharrem Shatroll until he blames competent institutions for the issue, says that during the winter season, they are having a very difficult time facing this air.
Shatroll: KEK is doing nothing
It's obvious that, although the filters are working better now, but there's some smoke, it's not good, but there's nothing to do... KEK is not doing anything around here, the population has nothing to do... It's difficult, especially already, the winter season when it's even turned on with coal, it's much worse”, he says.
That the polluted air in this country is evident, says Skender Sullova, however, has been observed these days by more intense smoke coming from the chimneys of thermal power plants.
Sullova: At three o'clock in the morning there's always smell
There's always a smell at three o'clock in the morning... always there is. ...very difficult, very”, it ends.
In this regard, in a response to Kosova Preiss, the director of Environment in the municipality of Obilics, Victory Hashan has denied having complaints about smoke. According to her, these days are working on Kosovo B repairs, and there may be noises during the afternoon.
We have no complaints these days regarding smoke. Even the reports of the Hydromethorology Institute and the KEK reports testify, while we are in the tendering procedures of the Mobile Laboratory, which will measure pollution in our municipality and by then everything in this area is in harmony with the laws in force from the MMPH. In this last ten days we've had mostly more noise in the afternoon intervals, this is the result of repairs happening in TC” Kosovo B”, but that we as a municipality are being informed over time of developments that are going to happen. As for the years to come, we expect understanding by KEK to create the green generation, as well as continue in environmental investments based on community demands, as well as the laws to power”, the Obilic Community's response is said.
Kosovoress has also tried to get an answer from the KEK information office, but the latter have not done so.
