Discussion begins over law opening doors of Albanian citizenship for Kosovo Albanians

This bill, among other things, removes legal restrictions for Kosovo Albanians and the rest that live outside Albania's borders for applying for receiving Albanian citizenship, writes Koha Ditore today.
The Commission for National Security in Albania's Parliament discussed the “citizenship bill” in principle on Monday.
Invited to the meeting of this commission were Ms. Rowena Voda, deputy interior minister of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Pablo Zapata, ambassador of UNHCR's, Mrs. Alma Mehmeti, chief Sector, Jurydice Directorate, Mr. Brian Williams, resident coordinator of UNHCR, Mr. Arthur Mark, representative of U n NHCR and Mrs. Christina Folkelius, UNHCR representative.
Deputy Interior Minister, Mrs. Rowena Voda said: “this bill has a huge impact on citizens living in Albania and abroad. It is a draft law of internal legislation that does not seek to bring about EU laws. This law will solve many of the problems related to citizenship”.
While the resolution of this bill, MP Elona Gebrea said that “foreign representatives' presence at this commission meeting shows commitment and group work. Migration is a phenomenon that occurs in many countries and certainly in Albania. The various problems related to this issue have forced these countries to make the necessary changes in the law. This bill has been ratified with the legal framework and refers to EU legislation”.
