Two people have changed lives at the scene until the third one has arrived at the hospital, authorities have announced.
Chile's president, Sebastian Pinera, has suspended metro transportation, but the protests have not ended despite the announcement. Soldiers and tanks were deployed after the government declared a state of emergency.
Protests erupted after disappointments over the high standard of living in one of the most stable countries of Latin America.
In parts of Santiago, hundreds of military troops took to the streets for the first time since 1990, when Chile gained democracy after Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship.
On the second day of the protests, protesters set fire to buses and barricades until police used tear gas and water to disperse the crowd. More than 300 people were arrested by authorities until 156 suffered injuries. /rel
