“Climate change and damage caused by extreme weather events, such as drought, floods and changes in sea and water level, undermine transport and port” operations, the UN Trade and Development Conference (UNCTAD) said in a report.
The numerous uraniums and typhoons have led to the closure of ports in recent years, such as the 72-hour suspension of the main port in Bangladesh in May.
The report shows that ports should adapt immediately to climate change, especially small island countries.
According to the report, the worldwide volume of shipping fell to 2.7% last year, below the historic average of 3%.
