The president of the Republic, Hashim Thaci, has made the decision to award five historical personalities to the Delia family from Prekazi for special merits. With the title “Hero of Kosovo”, Ahmet Delia and Mursel Ahmeti have been decorated, while the title “Freedom Order” has been decorated after the death of Brahim Ahmet Ahmet Ahmeti, son of Ahmet Delia, and his two grandsons, Zymer Ahmeti and Vesel Hajzer Ahmeti.
Ahmet Delia led many uprisings against Ottoman authorities in 1891, 1903, 1907, while in 1912 he joined Hasan Pristina as the initiator of the general uprising, which resulted in Albania's declaration of independence. With December 25th this year, he heroicly dropped into Prekaz, in an uneven confrontation with Serbian military units that had attacked the civilian population.
Mursel Ahmeti participated in all uprisings led by his father, including the recent battle with Serbian military units on December 25th, 1912. Following Ahmet Delia's death, Mursel Ahmeti continued his path, becoming one of the main authorities in Kosovo's Cacak Movement.
Brahim Ahmeti is Ahmet Delia's younger son. He was commander of the East Drenica military units in the defence of Kosovo's borders and in the fight against the ethnic Serb entities in the Novi Pazar area during World War II. Even today in Drenica, he remembers strict respect for the customs of war during his commanded units in Novi Pazar.
Isa Zymer Ahmty was battalion commander at Shaban Poluzaku Brigade. After the war, sentenced to life in prison by the Yugoslav regime, Isa in 1951 will manage to escape from the Mitrovica Sremija prison and after an epic opisade across Serbia, he will return to Kosovo, where after a year of stay in the Drenica mountains will pass over to Albania.
Vesel Hajzer Ahmeti was a participant in the post-World War II Albanian illegal movement under the NDSH Group for Drenica. He was sentenced to 20 years in political prison for the event.
