While Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj are debating the 100 per cent tax removal for goods from Serbia so far, Serbia has lost 66.2m euros from Pristina's measures.
This has been declared by official data, and Foreign Trade and Telecommunication Minister Rasim Ljajic says the situation could be even worse.
If the tax continues, Ljajic warns, the damage will be greater than the money.
As a consequence of everything, smuggling is flourishing in Kosovo, which means it is supplied with illegal channels. There is the danger that another player will take over the market in Kosovo that Serbia had. If the tax is removed today, part of the businessmen will return from Serbia, but if it continues, then everything will be changed because other players will appear and take over the market and the damage will be even greater” Ljajic said.
