Faruk Mujka, deputy chairman of South Mitrovica, has said the stance against Minister of Administration and Local Power Ivan Todysojevich, who comes from the ranks of the Serbian List, will not halt Mitrovica's reunification efforts in a municipality.
In Express Interview on KTV, Mujka has said that signing the petition by more than 16 thousand people was the free will of citizens, “anyway, following the negative response from MAPL”, following the vote that took place at the Municipal Assembly in South Mitrovica.
He has said that after seeing the opposing stance, Mitrovica municipality “has exploited the second option, which is petition”.
Mujka has made it known that there have also been citizens from the northern part of Mitrovica who have signed the petition, while adding that “garanton that even most Serbian citizens in the north want such union”.
The small number of signatures from the north, Mujka has argued that citizens are afraid of parallel structures.
Very seriously calling the effort to unify Mitrovica, Mujka has said we have “votes of all asmblists, coming from each party”.
I don't believe the minister enjoys this process. But that does not avoid us. We have the obligation to advance the will of the citizens of Mitrovica. Without an offer, we can aspire for results. It's serious and has been unanimously voted. It can't be called inconsistent. No subject, I hear he says he's against it. Today he surrendered to the Speaker of the Parliament. He pledged to distribute it to responsible groups and commissions. Then it must be known why Mitrovica cannot be united and why it is split”, he has declared.
Mujka has also said it was meant to review the decision to create two Mitrovica municipalities, but has added that this has never happened.
“After reviewing decisions, what are the positive aspects and the results of these divisions? What is the positive aspect of establishing the northern municipality in Mitrovica, what citizens, whether Serbs or citizens, have benefited from. With Ahtisaari's package, a city with two municipalities is pre-represented, but the Constitution sʹi recognises. Albanian citizens in the north suffer mostly. They are the most discriminated against in Kosovo. I guarantee most Serbian citizens have nothing against it. They want to use public services what they deserve”, he has said, adding that opponents of the idea can mention the security aspect, but according to him, it does not stand.
The mujka has finally said that the idea of uniting Mitrovica has to do nothing against citizens in the north and against the Serb community. /Periscopi
