Positive thinking can be the key to remaining healthy in old age, suggests research. Scientists found optimists who believe that in old age their life means a quick walk, less pain, and severe symptoms.
The study also found that those over 50 are more likely to judge the lives of married people and those who view their friends at least once a week. As researchers warned that excessive time costs in one country or in front of television can make life less meaningful.
Researchers at London's College University questioned more than 7,000 people between 50 and 90 years of age, wondering how meaningful their lives felt.
16% of them judged life more valuable if they were married and 13% if they were alone. Those who preferred single life met friends at least once a week and were more likely to become members of an organization.
