Kosovo does not need economists and lawyers for the next ten years

Kosovo students are not much prepared for the job market. Public universities and private colleges have not done enough in this direction to have more adequate programs in preparation for students for the job market. So said Minister of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology ( MAST), Shyqit Bytyqi in an interview for EO.
He said the Economic and Jurydical faculty has a large number of students. According to him, Kosovo has enough economists and lawyers, and our country does not need that for the next 10 years.
“We have an extraordinary number of public universities and private colleges that are based on law and economic faculty, while all the reports in labour market research show us that for economists and lawyers we don't need the next 10 years, we see that we have no agreement between how we have organised the programmes in universities and colleges and what the market requires, I think that this has been our ministry's policy”.
“Stockwork, we've shared programs that who can get the scholarship, the programs required in the labour market we've oriented in that direction for students to stimulate that they are needed for the labour market”, Bytyqi said.
He said they are now focused on establishing quality in education and preparing young people for the labour market.
It's very necessary to reorganize universities because we're all talking about a rise in quality and preparing our young people for the job market, we shouldn't expect that some day many of our young people will realize that they have a degree, but they'll find it hard to find a place to work”
“... it's best to take steps today, though it may not be to like a certain part, but I think that if our goal from the beginning has only been a great purpose to have qualities in all universities and colleges and our young people really have a degree that is compatible with market demands”, he said.
Bytyqi said the latest goal in the education system in Kosovo, and not least, is the whole-day instruction in all pre-university schools in Kosovo in order to achieve a quality education, but according to him this is not easy to do and much commitment and work is required.
“The latest aim of the education system in Kosovo must be the whole-day lesson, implementation to raise the quality level what we're all trying to and we want to have can't be achieved until we can't have a whole-day lesson in Kosovo”, he said.
Bytyqi has also talked about the strike the SBASK has warned about on January 14th, 2019, unless their demands for wage levels in the salary law are implemented.
He said the ministry is open to dialogue and it is not necessary to hold strikes, as among the only ones who suffer are students with a lack of learning.
“We still have the institutional opportunity to approach the solution of the problem and it is not right either by the union or by anyone to prevent the learning process, I consider that at least it is the students who can be harmed and cannot harm students when we have other institutional opportunities”, he said.
Minister Bytyqi said the bill will soon go to the Assembly and expects MPs to vote on it.
While we have expressed readiness more sincerely to co-operate in the approach of this problem, we have to drain institutional opportunities once, and unless there is ever a government hearing, I'm saying because the law is now in parliament and it belongs to MPs”,
“... I think they will listen to our voice, there will be a better solution, a solution that is affordable because the cost that might affect us and the problem we have with Kosovo's overall budget”, Bytyqi said.
