Education Minister Besa Sahini left the Media Commission while discussing the Law of Higher Education and Students, the Oranews reports. The Commission's chairman viewed this as a serious legal offense, but also insult to MPs.
Albana Vokshi: Bravo, if the scenario worked out, it's embarrassing to leave the commission, to abandon the meeting. It's embarrassing such a majority. Very nice for all citizens to see who Minister Edi Rama has placed, who has deputies Edi Rama, who only cares about his power. It's unconstitutional, it's illegal and it's a big insult to all of us. Reagon, be fair. It's a shame you let the students close. I will not only ask Edi Rama not to provoke, not ask the ministers to abandon the commissions, I will inform the EU delegation, embassies and Brussels.
Earlier, Education Minister Besa Sahini before the Media Commission said he opposes proposals for legal changes in higher education. While MP Albana Vokshi said that with these statements the ministry acknowledged it has failed to meet the students' demands.
Besa Sahini: Considering all that we've seen from other countries, we don't see the need for these changes to be addressed through legal changes. Considering that we and the VKM in December have addressed two of the major issues raised by students for transparency and accountability and for representation on boards
Albana Vokshi: Then the ministry's stance on proposals is contrary?
Besa Sahini: Yes
Albana Vokshi: Then you're maintaining that the pact has not met the demands of three students. Then why are you cheating that the pact has met the students' demands? Why do you cheat students? You're just saying you're against some student demands. I'm glad you promised not to be fulfilled. It is in your honor to go out and tell the students and teachers that we cannot and have not met some of the demands. You're acknowledging that the pact is a fraud.
Besa Sahini: The Pact has addressed these student demands and we do not need to make legal changes.
