The Argentinian sponsor had been released from borrowing to Milan, allowing him to join Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.
Higuwin has performed medical tests but it is still unknown whether he will be available for the return semifinal in Carabao Cup against Tottenham.
It must be registered until 12am Thursday to be available to perform.
Higuwin was linked to Arsenal when Juvenus transferred him to a record 75.3 million pounds in July 2016.
After 40 goals scored in two seasons, he passed to Milan in August, with the option to make the permanent agreement at the end of the season for a total of 36m euros.

His time with Milan began well with five goals in six matches, but he found the net only once in the last 12 matches and was left out of the match against Genoa after Milan's coach Gennaro Gatto said speculation prevented preparations.
In the 2015-2016 season under Sarri's direction, Higuiin tied the goal score record in Serbia A with 36 goals.
Chelsea is currently in fourth place in the Premier League, three points ahead of Arsenal that was defeated by a score of 2-0 in Emirates on Saturday. /Periscopi/
