Agriculture Ministry, DRC memorandum for support of minority community farmers

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development and the Danish Council for Refugees-Action in Kosovo(DRC) have signed memorandum of understanding, aimed at improving the socio-economic situation of the minority community through providing technical assistance to the development of agricultural activities.

In the case of signing this memorandum, MBPZHR Minister Nenad Ricalo has indicated that the ministry is engaged through various forms to support farmers' agricultural activities in the country.

The “Memorandum of Understanding with the DRC is one form of support for minority community farmers in Kosovo, through which we aim to support farmers in developing and advancing their agricultural activities, thus offering training and technical assistance through DRC”, he said.

In addition, the minister has stressed that through the memorandum of understanding, The DRC is given opportunities to provide training and support to small farmers, processors and traders, where he stressed that he is also aiming at creating connections for these farmers in larger agricultural markets.

Meanwhile, Kristen Stec, director of the DRC in Kosovo, has praised the signing of this memorandum and stressed that during this period, they will engage in improving the socioeconomic situation of the minority community, offering them training and professional support in the agriculture sector.

It has shown that this memorandum has also been made in view of the DRC agreement with the Swedish Agency for International Development and Co-operation(SIDA) for implementation of the “Support of Social Undertaking and promotion of social-economic empowerment to the minority community in Kosovo”, this AIDS-funded project.
