The association of Kosovo journalists (AGK) has reacted to the public call Emir Hamza from Tetovo for the massacre of Periscop and Indexline journalists on Friday.
According to AGK, Hamza's own language, which is itself journalists, is very dangerous and contributes to the language of hatred and division, and as such is legally condemned.
“The AGK requires that the journalist in question apologize publicly and distance himself from his call. The AGK also requires the Association of Journalists in Macedonia and other relevant security institutions to handle the case. For the Kosovo Journalists' Association, such a language, especially when it comes from journalists themselves, damages everyone's work and must be punished”, the AGK's response says.
Albanian journalist from Tetovo, Emir Hamza, has made public calls for massacre of journalists of our portal [and Indescsonline] in the style of “Charlie Hebdo” that happened in France several years ago.
Hamza seems to have revolted with any of the articles published or followed by Periscope.
He claims that only in the manner similar to the massacre against “Charlie Hebdo” deserve to treat our journalists.
Periscope has been organised by various political and parapolitical groups in its three years of operation. But the paper has announced it will not stop informing the country's citizens based on its impartial and correct editorial policy.
The portal is consulting legal representatives to submit this case to Macedonia's security bodies for calls for the murder of journalists.
Below AGK's:
The Kosovo Journalists' Association has questioned the news that Albanian journalist from Tetovo, Emir Hamza, has made public calls for massacres of Periscop and Indexline portal journalists in the style of “Charlie Hebdo” that had occurred in France several years ago.
For AGK, the language used by journalist Hamza is very dangerous, which contributes to the language of hatred and division, and as such, it is punishable because it severely violates freedom of expression.
The AGK requires that the journalist in question apologize publicly and distance himself from his call. The AGK also requires the Association of Journalists in Macedonia and other relevant security institutions to handle the case.
For the Kosovo Journalists' Association, such a language, especially when it comes from journalists themselves, damages everyone's work and must be punished.
The AGK finds that one of the media owners mentioned in Tetovo's status of journalist has already begun to follow the legal path to journalism in question, since language is unacceptable and condemned anywhere in the world.
