Although some people are truly intoleranced to wheat protein because of a condition called cellic disease, which affects only 1 percent of people.
But much more, approximately 12 percent of people claim to be sensitive to gluten, which causes breathing and pain.
To determine whether this sensitivity is true or is just fantasy, researchers conduct closed-eyed “tests on people and see their symptoms.
Through this process, scholars discovered that some people experienced real mental - health problems as a result of the consumption of extra gluten food.
The study, conducted by scientists at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, tested what happened when 14 people consumed gluten.
They found that when people took gluten, they were more likely to feel tired or to experience negative emotions, suggesting that gluten has real effects on the brain.
Study leader Jessica Biesieekerski said: “We're not saying everyone will be depressed after eating bread or pasta”. She added that this phenomenon would likely happen only to a small group of people.
