According to the newspaper Le Monde, which dates August 14th, Turkish President Erdogan is implementing his threat to making new allies. The pen.al has allowed the writing of the French reference daily:
“Facing a previously unknown crisis with the US, weakened by the financial crisis and the drastic decline of the local lira currency, Turkey is “seeking new allies” President Erdogan suggested during a rally in Trasbon (black court). That's to respond to a scheme shaped in America- according to him”.
“The actual crisis is pushing Ankara, NATO member since 1952, towards the wings of Russia” writes the newspaper read by the post.al.
Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Serguei Lavrov will be in the Turkish capital this Monday and Tuesday to meet with counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu. According to Le Monde, the topic of this meeting will focus around Syria and an agreement with Russia, so that the pro-Assad government forces do not attack the enclave of Idlib, where opposition forces controlled by Ankara are still sheltering. If that were to happen, Turkey would not only lose its weight in Syria, but it was threatened by a new wave of refugees, while up until now Erdogan has waited at the site of 3.5 million Syrians.
This new deal with Russia is trying to take place on terms of a fierce battle between the Turkish and US president.
According to the Turkish agency Anadolu Agency, Recep Tayip Erdoğan, stated yesterday that “towards those who have been waging trade wars all over the world and that have included our country in this, our response will be being directed to new markets, in new co-operation in new coalitions”.
Yes, according to Le Monde, to provoke America that has nominally labeled Erdogan plans to organise a summit on September 7th for Syria's work between Russia, France and Germany.
Since Turkey can no longer rely on American aid, it is an Ideal moment for Russia to attack Idlib's enclave. It can do so by making Turkey part of its game, and if Putin is generous, it can accept Erdogan's support for military troops in Syria”. This is pretty much the game being played.
Russia has responded positively to Ankara's invitation to the 7 September summit. France and Germany have yet to answer for this rally, which Turkish president seeks to give him an anti- Trump view, writes Le Monde.
