US Embassy officials in Pristina have declined to comment on the option of partitioning Kosovo or exchanging territory with Serbia. While in the German Embassy, they have voiced opposition to partitioning, arguing that such a thing creates potential for destabilising effect in the region and beyond.
Despite the recent days of numerous statements about the Kosovo division option or the exchange of territories with Serbia under the final phase of dialogue, the US Embassy in Pristina has decided not to declare itself around this option.
Asked by the newspaper “Voice” if the US supports the partition option, not specifying, embassy officials in question have reiterated the US ambassador's statement in Kosovo, Greg Delavie, who day before said Kosovo must find out what its intentions are and try to reach a consensus about them.
Despite this, the German Embassy has reiterated its stance on “Zerin”, hinting it stands against the division of Kosovo.
On the other hand, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has confirmed that the Presevo Valley issue could become the subject of discussions in Brussels. Representatives of Albanians in the Valley have requested this, who have estimated that Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac should join the Republic of Kosovo. Meanwhile, opposition representatives in the country have said that in no form should Kosovo's territorial integrity be violated.
