General Clark, who in an authorial text at “The Washington Post” has estimated that the Balkans can again be the land of crisis, so the US and the EU should react urgently, because in the region the external powers that are creating stress are present and that what we know from history is that the Western Balkans are very fragile.
In an interview for Sarajevo television N1, Clark says harsh words and aggressive acts can lead to conflict in the Balkans faster than anywhere in the world.
We should be worried. The Western Balkans must be pushed forward, into Western civilisation and transatlantic civilization, as soon as possible. It's been 23 years since the Dayton Accords have been signed and much remains to be done for the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I think this is going very hard”, Clark of whom has been commander of NATO forces in Europe during the bombing of Serbia.
Speaking of the geopolitical scene in the Balkans and the role Russia, Turkey and China have in the region, he has said these states “play the Balkan game”.
“Balkan is on the tectonic plaque of the human race, this is where civilizations are historically confronted, and they are still being confronted. So it's a fair assessment that we should use NATO and ensuring military security”, the American general has said.
He has added that very hard work must be done in fighting corruption through the government.
“This means that members of power, those elected as well as those appointed absolutely must live modestly, should live from their salaries, salaries should be sufficient to live by them, but no one should expect to become a millionaire. / RTK
