Leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who promises <x0-radical changes”, is leading in polls to win in the presidential election.
The winner of the presidential election is expected to be taught shortly after the football team of Mexico plays in the phase of direct eliminations with Brazil at the World Cup on 2 June.
“Social application is very positive, thanks to the performance of the Mexico team in Cuba of the World”, says about AFP, Professor Aurelio Collado Torres.
He adds that optimism towards football team “can translate into a vote for Lopez Obrador”, which has a lot of support among the poor in Mexico.
Lopez Obrador, 64, has exploited the population's frustration over corruption cases and violence by drug cartels and is leading in polls with 48.1 per cent.
Meanwhile, Ricardo Anaza from the National Action Party (PAN), according to the polls, is expected to win 26.1 per cent of the vote, followed by candidate Jose Antonio Meade from the Revolutionary Party (PRI) with 20.8 per cent of the vote.
