European Union officials consider that changing Pristina-Belgrade dialogue will not speed up reaching the agreement on normalising relations between the two sides.
According to them, such development of events can only weaken dialogue and, instead of dealing with essential things, negotiating would be taken for a time as to who would be involved in the dialogue, Kosovo Press broadcasts.
Thus, Beta sources familiar with dialogue within the European Commission in Brussels have said that at the recent meeting of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vuciq has agreed to strengthen and step up efforts to reach the comprehensive judicial agreement on normalising relations between the two countries.
As far as the US in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue wants to speed up the final resolution of the relations of both sides, and Kosovo is asking Washington for direct engagement in dialogue, sources at the EEAS say Americans have been addressed directly so far in dialogue.
Diplomatic sources in the EU say it is not advisable to change the format of dialogue, since power and momentum will be lost.
According to them, if Americans are directly involved in dialogue, Belgrade will seek Russia's involvement in negotiations.
