But the situation in the field is really quite different. Indexline has travelled to the Gracanica municipality, which is located only five kilometers from Kosovo's capital, where the security situation is quite calm and normal. This is confirmed by the commander of the police station in Gracanica, Lieutenant Bratislav Trajkovic, who in an interview for Indexline, says the security situation in the Gracanica municipality is calm and stable.
“The security situation in the Gracanica municipality is at a satisfactory level and there is no reason for any concern among citizens while the media statements I cannot comment, but what is seen on the field in Gracanica, on the basis of information that we receive and that they are official, the situation in our municipality is safe for all citizens living in this country”, says police station commander in Gracanica Trajkovic says that except for a few small incidents such as the various textbooks or musical provocations are passed on from the cars, there were no serious incidents of five years ago.
I can't say that there's no after any, but I can say in recent years there have been no incidents of ethnic character where people have been physically attacked because of ethnic affiliation, so the last five years we haven't had this kind of case”.
Even Serbian citizens in this municipality say they are satisfied with the security level and feel secure in their homes and only concern have unemployment and economic conditions. Police commander says the trust of Serbian citizens in the Kosovo Police in recent years has increased, and criminal acts have fallen prominently in the Gracanica municipality.
The information that we currently have the residents of Gracanica are pleased with the work of the police for the difference between previous periods when we have past cases of criminal acts such as theft, yet over time these works have fallen to minimum and the population is satisfied with police”.
Police data shows that there have been no serious incidents with ethnic motives in Serb-dominated enclaves except the northern Kosovo municipalities, where such incidents are caused by the Serbs themselves motivated by official Belgrade. Bratislav Trajkovic says that neither he personally but his colleagues have had attacks and threats because of the work they do in the Kosovo Police.
