Rossin Year Also Marked in Pristina

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of world-renowned composer Gioacino Rossini, Italy's Embassy in Pristina organised musical concert, with the cerçrast public having the opportunity to enjoy some of its best-known works.

Quenteti of the Symphony Orchestra G. Rossin, accompanied by the Solists of the Academy Rossini “Alberto Zedda” and the Rossini Opera Festival performed for art lovers part of the composer's three best-known works by Pesaro.

On this occasion, Italy's ambassador to Kosovo, Piero Cristoforo Sardi, said music is an integral part of people's lives and that for the celebration of Rossin's year this evening, they are oriented on organising this event to relax music lovers.

“Viti 2018 marks the 150th anniversary of Gioacino Rossini's death: one of the most important composers of the opera in the history of Italian music and the picture of music. He was and he's still a super star. His masterpieces continue to appear in music season programmes around the world, attracting a large public”, he said.

The Italian diplomat did not overlook the University of Pristina, the Kosovo Philharmonic and the Culture Institute of Tirana as collaborators of this musical evening, while praising the co-operation so far.

“However, we as Italians believe that culture in all its dimensions is an integral part of life, as well as international relations like art and music this evening are essential for our lives”, he said.

Musicians performed selected pieces by Rossin's works, such as II Barbiere di Syviglia, La Cennertola, and Létalia in Alger.

Otherwise, Gioacino Rossini remains one of the most important composers of the opera in the history of music. And his birthplace, Pesaro, is a host of certain events dedicated to him each year
