Owner of the 11-story building: Municipal officials asked me for 10,000 euros in bribery (Video)

The Mitrovica municipality's inspector today has taken action for the collapse of an 11-story building built without permission, on the “Shemsi Ahmeti” street in Mitrovica. But it's all over with the collapse of part of the wall on the first floor of the object. 

The building's investor, Fidan Muharremi, has said that some Mitrovica municipality officials (not giving names) have asked him for bribes in the amount of 10 thousand euros, and since this did not become a municipality.

We have been bribed by municipal responsibilities of 10,000 euros. Since we have refused, this decision has been made within three days to be executed. Names are deposited in the police. We've issued statements and to the police on this case”, Muharrem stressed about the Telegraph.

He showed that the reason for the collapse of this object, according to the municipality, is because of construction permits.

However, as Muharrem said, a request for a permit was made in November 2015, and no response was given by the municipality.

“The reason for their collapse is because of the permit, but we have a number of courses that we applied for in November 2015. We haven't been answered. We waited until the third or fourth month of 2016 and then continued with our work. We've been waiting for about six to seven months to get back to us, which we haven't received, and as an automatic right we've continued with the work. After that, the inspectors stopped working, but we still don't have a decision from the urbanization department to interrupt the job, and we have no answers to what's going on. We've completed the object in the state that it's”, explain the Muharrem.

He also said that the decision to tear down the building was taken by the mayor of the municipality with the inspector.

The decision that is not based on competent organs. The substance is deposited in court, the municipality has filed a lawsuit in court with them, but they have made their own decision about the destruction of the facility and without counsel or any court ruling. While Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri said he is acting on the basis of the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.

Bahtiri, addressing investor Muharemi, said the Mitrovica municipality has warned him of several times the ban on the work, but he has continued construction.

You well know how many times the inspection has come and put the tape on. I'm not gonna crash. If only it had been my property, I would have given you my hand and forgiven you. I run an institution that I have responsibility before citizens to protect the law to the end. I must act on the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, those as the camp I but the Assembly of Kosovo. If the municipality is not fair then we will compensate for everything that has happened today”, Bahtiri said.

As for the bribery charge, Bahtiri said he was unaware of that.

He said that if this is proved, people in question will not stay two seconds in the workplace.

Meanwhile, the destruction action of the 11-story building has been interrupted and only one tape is seen around it.
