A survey by the Kosovo Medical Oda shows that 78.8 %s of doctors surveyed have faced verbal and physical violence.
According to them, in the past five years 97.3% of the cases of attack have occurred within the health institution, while 2.7% have occurred outside the health institution.
The polling method was online, where the questionnaire was sent via email link to all OPC members. The answer to the submitted questionnaire has sent 381 OMK members (12.09% of the total participation doctors, of which 61.8% were male and 38.2% of the female gender”, said the OPC report.
The survey was conducted with specialists, specialists, and other doctors.
81.40 % of doctors have said attacks at the workplace were verbal, while 1.4% of doctors experienced physical attacks of 17.5% of doctors responded to both types of physical and verbal assault.
The poll says violence has come from patient family members or from patients themselves, while doctors have not always reported violence in the law bodies.
For not reporting violence, doctors often cite fears of creating additional problems, possible environmental responses, or fears of repeating the attack. Of those who have filed the violence, 58.2% have reported to their employer, 40.5% in the police, and only 1.3% have submitted violence to Court”, poll results show.
