The government ignores KEK recommendations, announces millions' tender for the New Kosovo mine (Dok)

The Kosovo government is also planning to announce a million-euro tender for opening the New Mine for the “New Kosovo thermal power plant. Despite KEK's recommendations that the mine be the continuation of the existing mine (Sibovci Jugpespesis), in the village of Hade, the government is aiming to shift it to the village of Lismir. The Kosovo government is aiming to avoid the most appropriate variants proposed by the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) for opening the new mine that will be available to the “New Kosovo thermal power plant.

According to documents provided by ORAinfo, the most suitable option proposed by KEK for opening the New Mine has been continuing in the existing “mine The southwestern Sibovci”, which includes the village of Hades, whose inhabitants have been seeking a solution for years.

But the Kosovo government, founded by Prime Minister Haradinaj on the issue respectively, is ahead of the final phase for another option, which is far higher costs.

The new mine is intended to open in the village of Lismir of Fushe Kosovo, completely avoiding the existing mine.

“From the last meeting with the prime minister is almost set for this option. If we go with the village of Lismir, this means that we have to announce tenders to select a company to remove the soil and there is uncertainty about when the new mine could open”, a Haradinaj Commission member has said, revealing details from the meeting. In the village of Lismir, in the area where the new mine is being set to open, KEK has over the years dumped the ground collected by existing mines.

KEK recommendation for Hade village

Meanwhile, if the government underground decides on this option, then this would be against KEK's recommendations about the most suitable location for opening the New Mine.

In Lismir, coal mining begins in 2032

Meanwhile, the variation in the village of Lismir, which is expected to receive the green light from the Government next week, in addition to many uncertainties, has both a major flaw and the time when coal extraction will start there.
