US President Donald Trump and North Korean President Kim Jong Un have signed a joint agreement on Tuesday, though its details are still unknown.
“We are signing a very important document, a very complete document,” told reporters.
He said he would discuss it “broadly” at a future press conference and indicated that it would be made available publicly.
Kim said he wanted to express his gratitude to President Trump about the meeting.
“We have had a historic meeting and have decided to leave the past behind and we are ready to sign the historical document”, Kim said through a translator.
President Trump said the process of denolarisation for North Korea would start “very, very soon”.
Asked whether North Korean leader Kim Jong Un agreed to denolarisation, Trump said, “We will start this process very, very soon”.
“Bota will see a big change”, it went on through a translator.
An American official told CNN earlier that the document would have in its content the progress of the talks and the promise to maintain momentum.
Trump and Kim: Historic Handhold
The signing of the agreement between the parties came after the historic meeting between the two presidents, who shook hands Tuesday morning at a hotel in Singapore, before the talks about the possible deregulation of the Korean peninsula began.
Under dozens of cameras, the two leaders met in front of a backdrop of American and North Korean flags at an unprecedented event.
As the summit began, President Trump predicted that he would have a “excellent relationship” with leader Kim Jong Un, who said on his part that he and Mr. Trump “had come there after overcoming all obstacles”.
Mr. Trump's convoy arrived first at the Capella Hotel on the resort island of Sentosa, Singapore. Kim Jong Unit's motorcade arrived a few minutes later.
Initially, talks were held face - to - face with only the presence of translators.
American officials have said that any agreement that can be reached should result in an end to the threat posed by North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
To attend the historic meeting, there are about 5,000 journalists in Singapore, but only a small group of American and Korean reporters were allowed to attend the moment when the two leaders greeted each other.
President Trump leaves Singapore on Tuesday night at the local hour, the White House announced.
