North Korean state media quoted Assad as saying he would meet with the Korean leader.
Syria's president, partner al-Assad, is expected to visit North Korea and its leader Kim Jong.
This meeting could take place before a possible meeting between Kim and the president of the United States of America (SHBA), Donald Trump.
The report by the official Korean central news agency has not said when the visit will be, but the two countries hit by sanctions have been allies for decades, and Washington has accused North Korea of helping Syria with its weapons programmes.
Donald Trump says meeting Kim Jong will happen on June 12th is back in the agenda, but there is still nothing confirmed by Korea.
Until Assad was quoted as confirming his meeting with Kim. “I'm going to visit DPS and to meet Kim Jongman,” was quoted as Assad, using an acronym for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. “It” stands for “its perfecter”.
Kim hasn't waited for any of the heads of affairs since he came to power in 2011 after his father's death. In recent months, he has met Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Moon Yae in a storm of diplomacy that is expected to peak at a meeting with Donald Trump in Singapore on 12 June.
