Albania's Statistics Institute (INSTAT) in co-operation with the Bank of Albania drafted for the first time a separate publication for key indicators on tourism in Albania, Koha Ditore writes today.
This study results in the spending of foreign tourists in Albania having no major difference from the costs Albanian citizens make outside Albania, where the gap is only 2.2% of GDP (internal production of Bruto) in favour of foreign tourists' expenses in Albania.
The expenses of Albanian citizens abroad receive considerable numbers. Thus, in 2013-2017, 22.6 million citizens of Albania (residents) have gone abroad and spent about 6.8 billion euros. According to the INSTAT study and the Bank of Albania, the expenses of foreign tourists in Albania reached nearly 15% of the Bruto Internal Production in 2017.
